Moors Society: The African Village
“We are rising to the challenge of building a healthier community.”
Purpose & Activities:
It is a sorority of Black American professional women who will operate a finishing school for young women who wish to learn all they can about becoming a good wife, mother and home maker. This program will focus on higher education, religious purposes, community safety and security, and the professional businesses in the Black community. Their goals will be to ensure that the women in the community are respected and properly provided for as consumers, investors and employees.
Moors Society: The Sacred Circle of African American Elders.
“A people without history is like a tree without roots”
Purpose & Activities:
It is a “historical society” of elder Black American men and women who are committed to the preservation of the different eras of Black American history. In the Dallas/Fort Worth area, there have been many changes to the city’s landscape. Communities, parks, freeways and business districts have received major face lifts one time after another.
These changes have made it hard for new generations to understand and share the lives of the people before them. It is often difficult for new generations to appreciate the experiences, hard work and accomplishments of the people before them. Rebuilding a historic version of the different Black American communities in the Dallas/Fort Worth area to reflect different periods in our history will give our elders a road map and model to teach the current history of African American life.
Elders will give their life stories with the aid of Moors historians, and those stories will be professionally recorded and possibly published. We will be able to record genuine stories of war and military life, social and political movements, changes in the business community, as well as personal accounts of celebrity interactions. All of this information and much more will quickly become a very valuable asset to the members of the Moors Society.
Moors Society: Public Health, Social Aid and Pleasure Organization
“We are dedicated to healing our community through the celebration of life.”
Purpose & Activities:
This is an organization that will create programs dedicated to providing public health education, raising money for medical research and providing social aid education. The purpose of this institution is to provide useful information about consumer health, medical care, and health care advancements. It will support the medical community’s efforts to raise money in pursuit of medical cures and treatments.
Our focus will be those diseases that greatly affect the Black American community. Sickle Cell, High Blood Pressure, Cancer, Heart Diseases, and the array of sexually transmitted diseases like HIV, Hepatitis, and AIDS.
As a pleasure organization, we don’t want to just raise money and awareness for our necessary causes. We want to enjoy ourselves in the process. This organization is open to the public, but it will cater to the Moors community.
As other organizations that are part of the Moors community gather information and improve our understanding, this institution and its programs will modify their plans and goals to reflect new advancements. Our goal is to celebrate the legacy of our joint African and African American families.
